On 7 and 8 June, the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, Gen. Håkan Syrén, visited Tallinn, upon invitation by the Chief of Defence of Estonia, Brig. Gen. Riho Terras.
During his visit the Chairman had the opportunity to meet with the Chief of Defence and his closest staff, the Minister of Defence and the Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The main topics of the discussions and exchange of views were on the military cooperation between the European Union and Estonia, the capability development and the CSDP activities.
Furthermore, Gen. Syrén visited the Ämari Airbase where he got an overview of the Estonian Air Force capabilities. He also had the opportunity to be briefed on the international air-land exercise ''Saber Strike 2012'' and to meet with the Defence Ministers of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
