The Czech Presidency invited the European Union Military Committee to assist to a live demonstration of the Czech-Slovak Battlegroups, due to be on alert for EU Crisis Management Operations from July to December 2009. The exercise proved the unit to be robust, well trained and ready to intervene on behalf of the European Union should the need arises.
Moreover, the Committee met in informal session and discussed the further development of the European Union military planning capabilities, following Mr. Solana's decision to create a Crisis Management Planning Directorate within the General Secretariat.
