Gen. Bentégeat was welcomed by the Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, HE Onkundi Mwencha, for the first visit of a Chairman of the European Union Military Committee to the African Union's premises. Accompanied by the EU Special Representative Koen Vervacke, CEUMC had an exchange of view on EU commitments in Africa and received an update on UA activities, particularly about the operations AMISOM in Somalia and UNAMID in Darfur.
At the margins of his visit, CEUMC paid also a courtesy call to the Ethiopian Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Mohamed Yenus Samora.
