EU HR Javier Solana visits EUFOR ALTHEA at Camp Butmir with EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valentin Inzko

The EU High Representative for the Common Foreign & Security Policy (CFSP), Javier SOLANA today visited EUFOR HQ where he paid an official call on DCOM EUFOR, Brigadier General Jose Carrasco.

DCOM EUFOR briefed Mr SOLANA on EUFOR activities and the current security situation within BiH. Mr SOLANA then visited the Multi National Battalion (MNBN) and the Integrated Police Unit (IPU) and observed a EUFOR live exercise.

18.05.2009 - Council conclusions on ALTHEA

EU HR Javier Solana visits EUFOR ALTHEA at Camp Butmir with EU Special Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Valentin Inzko (19.05.09)
18.05.09 The Council assessed Operation ALTHEA and approved the recommendations made in the Secretary General/High Representative's six-monthly report on the operation.
The Council welcomed the progress on the preparatory work for a possible evolution of Operation ALTHEA and approved, for planning purposes, the Concept, and the Provisional Statement of Requirements, for the possible evolution of Operation ALTHEA towards a non-executive capacity-building and training operation, in the light of advice and conclusions of relevant Council bodies.
