It's also yours! come and receive the Nobel Peace Prize 2012 

Dear young Europeans

Thank you to you all! You were almost 5 400 to participate in the "Peace, Europe, Future" contest! We are really proud of you!

It has been a real challenge for the jury to choose the winners who are going to Oslo to receive the Nobel Prize as part of the official EU delegation. You all deserved to win: your drawings and short texts were really beautiful and meaningful. And that means that you, the future of Europe, have really been inspired to tell us what peace in Europe means! 


The jury chaired by the famous comic book author Jean Van Hamme selected three of the final winners (one per age group):

The fourth winner was chosen by a vote by the public on Facebook among 16 pre-selected entries. The candidate with the most votes was:

The four winners are invited by the Presidents of the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament to be part of the official delegation of the European Union that is travelling to Oslo to receive this year's Peace Prize. They will attend the official ceremony on 10 December as well as the Nobel Peace Prize concert on 11 December. 

As the jury was really impressed by your drawings and short texts, it decided to also distinguish two additional entries per category, with a "silver medal" and a "bronze medal":

The young people who were awarded these silver and bronze medals will receive books on the European Union. 

The winner and the 9 runners-up of the Facebook vote will also be invited to Strasbourg for a special event around the Nobel prize on 12 December.

General conditions of participation and privacy statement

Your submission will be treated by the General Secretariat of the Council (hereinafter the GSC) in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Community institutions and bodies and on the free movement of such data (Official Journal L 8 of 12.1.2001, p. 1). Personal data in your form will be used by the GSC  to the extent necessary to the proper conduct of the contest, including identifying and notifying the winners of the contest. You have the right to access and rectify the data concerning you by contacting the GSC, and the right to have recourse to the European Data Protection Supervisor. By entering the contest you agree with the contest rules and conditions and in particular: 1/  should your entry win, on having your first and last name, age, gender and nationality published online on one of the European Union's websites or that of its partner in the contest, the European Youth Forum; 2/ should your entry be shortlisted for the popular vote on Facebook (which only applies for the age group 18-24), on having your first name, last name, age and nationality published on the dedicated Facebook page.

All content submitted for the purpose of the contest can be publicised and used by the European Union for promoting the contest and its results in the future.
