The European Union welcomes the successful holding of elections on 30 June in the city of Mostar.

The Union pays tribute to the work of the Administrator and staff of the EU Administration of Mostar whose efforts were instrumental in bringing the electoral process in the city to fruition.

The Union also appreciates the contribution which was made by the international Implementation Force (IFOR) and the International Police Task Force (IPTF) in creating conditions of security and confidence in which the elections could take place.

The Union recalls the commitments made by the parties to work in a constructive and cooperative manner towards the goal of creating a stable and unified functioning local administration in Mostar and, in this regard, urges the newly-elected municipal representatives to convene meetings of the relevant unified administrative structures at all levels, including the City Council, without delay.
