Consilium traineeships
Twice a year, the Council offers 5-month paid traineeships in Brussels. Why not apply and gain valuable insights into the work of the European Union?
Our traineeship programme
The Consilium traineeship programme allows graduates from a range of backgrounds to gain first-hand experience of EU policy-making.
We offer traineeships in different areas, such as policy, law, administration, communications, translation and IT.
110 traineeship positions are available each year.
Applications are now open!
You can apply for a Consilium traineeship until 15 September 2026, at 12:00 (Brussels time).
The traineeships will run from 1 February to 30 June 2027.

What we offer
Our traineeship programme gives young professionals the opportunity to gain insights into the work of the EU, be involved in the Council's daily activities, learn from their colleagues and advisors and contribute to shaping important decisions.
Traineeships are paid and include allowances and other benefits.
Positive action programme for trainees with a disability
Each year, we reserve up to six traineeships for EU nationals with a recognised disability.
Our programme offers them a unique insight into EU policy and law-making, whilst providing them with special workplace arrangements, as necessary.
Traineeships for students from national administration schools
In addition to our general traineeship programme, we also offer students at national administration schools unique insights into the processes and policies of the EU institutions. These traineeships last between two and five months.
Traineeship calendar
We offer traineeships twice a year.
The first traineeship period runs from 1 February to 30 June. You can apply from mid-July to mid-September, and candidates are selected between October and December.
The second traineeship period runs from 1 September to 31 January. Applications can be submitted in February and March, and the selection of candidates takes place from April to June.
