Meeting of the European Political Community, 2 October 2025
Main results
The seventh meeting of the European Political Community brought together leaders from across the continent in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The European Political Community is the demonstration of a shared political will. (…) Together, we want to work for the peace, development and prosperity of our societies and our citizens.

Leaders discussed how to strengthen Ukraine, the general security situation in Europe and how to make Europe stronger and more secure in the geopolitical situation we face.
The opening plenary session was followed by parallel roundtable discussions focusing on different aspects of the security situation in Europe, including:
- traditional and hybrid security threats
- economic security
- migration
The EU was represented by António Costa, the President of the European Council, who co-chaired the meeting with Mette Frederiksen, the Prime Minister of Denmark, as well as by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
The meeting of the European Political Community took place the day after the informal meeting of the European Council.

The European Political Community aims to
- foster political dialogue and cooperation to address issues of common interest
- strengthen the security, stability and prosperity of the European continent
This platform for political coordination does not replace any existing organisation, structure or process, nor does it aim to create new ones at this stage.
The European Political Community has now met seven times.

The next European Political Community meetings will take place in Armenia and Ireland.

Armenia
President Costa, President von der Leyen and High Representative Kaja Kallas met with Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia.
President Costa congratulated Prime Minister Pashinyan on the landmark progress agreed with Azerbaijan, a crucial step towards peace and stability in the region.

Azerbaijan
President Costa, President von der Leyen and High Representative Kaja Kallas met with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan whom they also congratulated on the recent historic breakthrough achieved with Armenia in Washington.
The EU will continue to invest in regional connectivity - in transport, energy, and digital - through the Global Gateway strategy.
We value Azerbaijan as an important partner and we are committed to strengthening our ties.

Greenland
On the eve of the European Political Community meeting, President Costa met with the Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen.
Greenland can make an important contribution to the EU's economic security and strategic autonomy.

Moldova
President Costa, President von der Leyen and High Representative Kaja Kallas, together with the leaders of France, Poland, Romania and a representative from the United Kingdom met the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
President Costa congratulated President Sandu on the victory achieved by democratic and pro-European forces in Moldova last Sunday. The leaders discussed how to speed up progress towards the European future the citizens of the Republic of Moldova have voted for.
Once again, the people of Moldova made their voice heard: they chose Europe.

Norway
President Costa held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre.
Norway is a close friend and partner of the EU. Our ever-deepening cooperation is based on shared values and common priorities.

Together, the EU and Norway are working on the implementation of the security and defence partnership, strengthening their support to Ukraine, and advancing the climate agenda.
Ukraine
President Costa, President von der Leyen and Prime Minister Frederiksen met with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and reiterated the EU and its partners' support for Ukraine until a just and lasting peace is achieved.
Supporting Ukraine is not supporting war, it is supporting Ukraine's right to a lasting peace, to a just peace.
